| Experiment #9: Osram energy saver halogen incandescent lamp contra Osram Dulux Star 21W CFL |
1. Setup of experiment # 9
This is the first experiment with a CFL whose package gives a switching withstand of 20000 (20000 on/off); expected lifetime is 10000 hours. It was bought the 26Jun10 for 5.95 EUR at the Cactus Hobby, Diekirch. See packaging here.
The competitor remains the OSRAM Halogen Classic A ES ( ES = energy saver) rated at 70W and 1200 lumen (energy class C) also bought at the Cactus store for 4.30 EUR in Sep09; this lamp started with Exp. #6. Its counter shows 41976 switchings at the start of experiment #9
2. Start of experiment #9
Start 30 Jun 2010 12:43 UTC approx. (clock on webcam is one hour fast).
The halogen lamp continues with a count of 41976, the Osram Dulux Star starts with count 1
2. End of experiment #9
Experiment #9 ends with the Osram Halogen Classic A ES blown after 67093 switchings. The previous halogen lamp of the same type made it up to 98052 switchings (see here). The Osram Dulux Star 21 W CFL has survived until now 25982 switchings, considerably more than the rated 20000 switching withstand. It will continue into experiment #10.
The exact date and time when the Classic Halogen blew is unknown for the moment. There was a power problem with the Powerline transmitters used for the webcam, so that not all images are available.
