Experiment #13: Battle of two ectron 20W CFL

1. Setup of experiment # 13

This is the second test run between 2 CFL's: both are nearly the same:  Ectron Economy, 20 W, 1080 lumen and 1200 lumen.

Importer: Kemner Lighting BV Amsterdan, The Netherlands.

Bought at the Blokker shop in Diekirch for 2.99 Eur (1080 lumen type) and 3.79 Eur (1200 lumen type). Both packages hold the message:

"Not suitable for dimming, electronic switches, photocells timing devices, dusk to dawn sensors".

So these CFL's clearly will be driven outside these very strong restrictions, probably ignored or unknown to most buyers.

 2. Start of experiment #13

Start  05 April  2011 09:30 UTC approx.
The webcam counters show the 1080 lumen CFL at the right (blue sticker) and the 1200 CFL at the left (yellow sticker)

3. The two ends of experiment #13

The 1200 lumen CFL blows after 4050 switchings, i.e. after only 65 hours in the ON state. Even if driven outside the small print specifications, this is a record in short lveness!

The 1080 lumen model makes it to 11598 switchings, about 187 hours in the ON state (21 April 2011, ~11:00)

Here again we have a brand of lamps where the real lifespan is enormously lower than the 6000 hours printed on the packaging.
